Later work

Douglas’ style never really stood still - it was always changing slightly as he tried something out new colours, media, techniques. These changes brought an interesting narrative to the viewer. His love and interest in many different artists and styles from Scotland, England and Europe came through strongly in his work.

Douglas’ paintings continued to evolve through his interest in colour and composition. He changed from traditional composition to experimenting with different balances within the image - bringing further interest to the viewer. The more Pat and he shared a studio the more they influenced each others' work, always there to encourage and challenge.

Douglas’ worked prolifically from 2000 to 2016 when his health started to fail him. We hope you enjoy his artistic journey through this exhibition to honour his work.
